Each year the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 2 sponsors several choral festivals for select students to attend. The elementary festival known as Songfest and includes students from several schools in the Northwest Tri-County I.U. #5 (Erie, Crawford, Warren counties).

The date for this year’s Songfest has yet to be published, but it typically takes place in the month of March. The students will leave with the choral director and a chaperon early that morning to go to the host school and remain with the director and chaperon at the host school all day until the concert that evening, to which the public is invited and for which tickets may be purchased at the door.

Attending the festival requires the students to meet several times before the festival to rehearse and learn the music prior to the festival. These rehearsals will begin in January.

Students selected for this festival must turn in completed general and medical information forms (which will be held confidential and referred to only as needed). All registration costs, and food for the day (although some hosts require a packed lunch from year to year) including a suppertime banquet for the students are paid for by the school district.
